Tennessee Tornadoes Bu Auvi We were in Florida when we
heard about the Tornados that hit Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Our
plans were to go to Disneyworld for another couple weeks and chill out in the
80 degree weather. When we did hear about the Tornados though our plans changed
a lot. We took a family vote and decided to head to Arkansas and Volunteer
with the Tornado Relief. We started our long and painful
18 hour drive to Arkansas when we got a call that they wouldn’t be needing
our help in that area. We thought that would work out for the best because
there was supposed to be an Ice storm in those parts. So now we were off to
Tennessee. We realized that if we would
have been going to Tennessee in the first place we could have shaved 5 hours
off of our trip! When we arrived in Tennessee
the weather wasn’t that bad so we thought we were safe. But soon it started
to storm and there was SNOW! I thought we were Snow birds and we were
supposed to be away from the snow. But we did all miss the Utah snow. I think
we forgot about the COLD part.
Once we turned into the Jr.
High we were staying at we started to unhook everything and get ready for the
night. But... our heater went out! It was going to be a cold night so my
brothers stayed at some of our fellow travelers “house”. It was a cold night
and the snow ended up sticking but then we were left with another problem we
had no jackets! We had sold them after we left Utah cause as I said we were
supposed to be Snow Birds! The snow only lasted a day which was still cold
with no jackets or heater, but hey we survived.
We started helping out with
simple jobs wherever we could find them, then we met a Family named the
Tucks. We started helping them and really got to know them they were so great
and friendly. We were able to help them get a lot of things done and cleaned
up. We had dinner a couple of times with them. They really know how to cook!
You can’t get much better then REAL southern cooking. You guys are awesome!
We will miss youJ.Also Thanks to Betty and her
Country Junction restaurant/Dance hall. She and her husband are so cool. Our stay has been long in
Tennessee and I am ready to get into a bigger town with movies and malls. But
we will never forget our new friends and family here. See
