Remodeling the RV ...
part 1
Once we got the RV back home we upset the
homeowners association people by parking this huge rig in the
neighborhood, while we got it ready for its makeover. It caused quite a
response.
We took measurements and decided what we needed to get done on it. We
knew we needed to get some bunk beds added into the toy hauler section
and we wanted to add a refrigerator in the rear as well. Kati
wanted to replace the carpet with tile in the living area and bathroom.
So we decided to drive the 5th wheel to Amarillo, Texas to see my Dad
and Brother and get their help. My Brother (Michael below on the right)
helped to get the beds and install them. My Dad took on the earned roll
of supervisor. We had plans to build the beds from scratch and have them
fold up into the walls but we realized that wouldn't easily work.

We put the bunk beds on stilts to provide enough lower storage room that
we could fit eight 69 liter storage buckets under them.

We also took some time to hang out with Dad and Linda. Dad was diagnosed
with stage 4 cancer and he has been fighting it like a trooper. So it
was great to get in to town to see him. And as always he hasn't slowed
down a bit. He was in the middle of remodeling his bedrooms and laying
hardwood floors.
Love you Dad, keep up the fight.

The other cool thing that happened while on this trip was Conner
learning how to ride a bike without training wheels. We owe this small
miracle to Jay, Linda's son. He is awesome. Thanks Jay. Conner says your
cool.

So it was a great trip that still left a lot of work to be done on the
trailer. So we started back on the road to home so we could get the
floors redone and get the fridge installed in the back along with the
large toy box we designed to fit next to the beds while driving.
So we had to take the trailer by Camping World to get some repairs done
on the generator and while they had the generator out doing the repairs
we picked p the trailer and brought it home to work on the floors.
I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS GETTING
MYSELF INTO!!!!!!
They really lay that carpet down to stay. I mean it is built to weather
a category 5 hurricane. It was crazy. I am pretty sure they lay the
carpet and then build the walls on top of it. But to make it worse I
think they wrap the carpet over and under the floor edging so no matter
how hard you pull it doesn't come out.

Next post will be my feeble attempts at RV remodeling....
